The JHU Recycling Program is committed to increasing recycling by making disposal of recyclable materials easy for students, faculty, and staff around campus and within all academic, office, and housing buildings. We have strategically placed bins for recycling and trash disposal along the walkways on campus. Containers with large openings, labeled "TRASH," can be found outside of every academic and office building. Likewise, containers with small, round openings, labeled "RECYCLING" and painted green, are designed for collecting commingled bottles and cans. Within campus buildings, bins for collecting mixed paper and bottles and cans can be found in hallways and common areas. Blue "Slim Jim" bins are designed for mixed paper collection and labeled "Paper Only." These paper recycling bins have lids with narrow slots for inserting paper. Green "Slim Jim" bins are designed for collecting commingled bottles and cans and labeled "Bottles and Cans." These comingled recycling bins have lids with two round openings. Please see the “Recycle Bin Locations” section for information about where recycling containers are located within housing buildings.
